¿De Donde Sos? We Get Asked in San Telmo

Something foreigners are asked all the time in Argentina is where they are from. For those unfamiliar, ‘¿De donde sos?’ incorporates the use of ‘vos’ for the second person singular (informal ‘you’) instead of the ‘tú’ utilized in most other countries. This is important to know while traveling in Argentina because visitors will inevitably be asked, ‘¿De donde sos vos?’ instead of the usual, ‘¿De donde eres tú? or ‘¿De donde es usted?’.
