A citizen gives an interview to TVE news as April 18th’s Cacerolazo (pot-banging) protest winds down in Plaza de Mayo. A sign in the background says ‘The People are Telling You: Enough!’ The interviewee complained about corruption in the country, amidst new allegations of governmental money-laundering.
The turnout was estimated at one million in Buenos Aires and two million around the country. It was less than at last year’s protests on the 13th of September (S-13) and the 8 of November (8-N) but highlights the ongoing tension in the country. Signs held by protestors said ‘We don’t want Korruption’ and ‘Cristina, Bring Back the Country.’ Opposition leaders expressed contentment with the turnout. Buenos Aires Mayor, Mauricio Macri said afterward that it was, “The biggest march in history.”
