Home Hotel in Palermo Viejo is a popular hotel and brunch destination.

See the hotel and meet the Irish-Argentine, Patricia O’Shea who owns the hotel with her husband, Tom Rixton.

Home is a stylish boutique hotel oasis in Palermo Viejo with a decidedly Euro-retro style.

With its vintage wallpaper and Scandinavian furnishing this is the kind of place that may have you wondering after a few drinks by the pool: where am I again?

Home hotel in Buenos AIres

Founded by Irish-Argentine, Patricia O’Shea and Brit hubby Tom Rixton, this cool and — we have to say it — chic hotel has 18 lovely rooms available, all wired and ready to plug in your ipod.

Music is important here — Rixton is a music producer who has worked with groups such as Depeche Mode, Suede and Argentina’s Victoria Mil and his original playlists are rotated weekly in the lounge and restaurant.

O’Shea for her part, used to be in charge the catering for U2. Bono even stopped by Home in 2006 to give an intimate concert here after his stadium gig in Buenos Aires.

Even if money is no object, our preference between all the options is the 75 sq. meter poolside suite with its vintage furnishings, outdoor fireplace and jacuzzi.

Another option are the even larger lofts — there’s a particularly cozy one tucked in the back that overlooks the pool.

For an extra treat you can visit the Home Spa where you can be bathed in detoxifying algae, get your energy canals all cleared out or just get a plain old massage.

Home is an eco-friendly getaway, with nifty energy saving censors and a waste reduction and recycling plan in place with the help of the highly-regarded local cartoñero organization El Ceibo.

Even the cool wallpaper is recycled — Rixton is a long-time collector.

It’s worth noting that this is one of the few Buenos Aires’ boutique hotels with a pool to hang around on those hot summer days.

Food and Cocktails

Home’s restaurant gets less attention than the hotel, but the service is some of the friendliest in Buenos Aires and the food is fresh and well-presented.

Not to be missed is the Sunday brunch with Eggs Benedict and lovely salads — make sure you get seated outside on the patio.

With the relaxed vibe, good food in such a nice part of town and the ‘more you stay, the less you pay’ policy, you may just want to cancel your flight plans and stick around for a while.
